Dieu du Ciel! is a Canadian craft brewery based in Montreal, Quebec. In 1991, Jean-Francois Gravel, barely 19 years old, began experimenting with brewing beer, pleasantly surprising his friends with his creations. Although at first it seemed only a dream, his passion led him to study biology, where he met Stephane Ostiguy, both sharing enthusiasm for beer and the desire to open a brewpub. After years of planning, they finally opened Dieu du Ciel! on September 11, 1998 in Montreal, where the brewery has remained to this day, expanding to a second factory due to increased demand.
The visual identity of Dieu du Ciel! is distinctive, with labels designed by Yannick Brosseau that evoke mythologies and pop surrealism, reflecting an imaginary pantheon in each beer. These labels are not only artistic but tell stories that complement the beer experience. The quality and complexity of Dieu du Ciel!'s beers, treated with an almost perfectionist approach, have gained worldwide recognition.
"Dieu du Ciel!" is a French expression that literally translates as "God in Heaven!", an exclamation similar to saying "Oh my God!" in English.
