Talus hop stands out for its remarkable aromatic profile of pink grapefruit, violet floral notes and forest floor, complemented by nuances of pineapple and coconut. This unique set of aromas is due to its diverse spectrum of terpenes, including limonene and linalool, which provide a deeply enveloping and refreshing aromatic complexity.
Developed by the Yakima Chief Ranches breeding programme in the United States and released to the market in 2020, Talus is a descendant of Sabro hop (known for its aromatic intensity and exotic profile). Its alpha acid content generally ranges between 8.5% and 10.5%, with total oil content between 1.6 and 2.8 ml/100g. This profile makes it an ideal choice for styles such as American IPAs, NEIPAs and Pale Ales, where the aim is to highlight a vibrant aromatic range in the beer alongside moderate but firm bitterness.
