Motueka hop stands out for its predominant notes of lime and lemon, bringing freshness to beers. It also offers touches of tropical fruits such as passion fruit and guava, together with herbal and spicy nuances.
Its chemical composition includes alpha acids in the range of 6.5% to 8.5%, making it more suitable for aromatic and flavour uses than for imparting bitterness. It also has a high concentration of essential oils such as myrcene, humulene and caryophyllene, which contribute to its complex aromatic profile.
Developed in New Zealand by New Zealand Hops Limited; released in 1997.
