In Idaho 7 hop, notes of papaya, mango and melon can be clearly identified, together with a marked citrus character reminiscent of orange and mandarin. Touches of pine, resin and an earthy character are also noticeable.
Idaho 7 is distinguished by its high alpha acid content, generally ranging between 9.5% and 14%, making it suitable for both bitterness and aroma. Its essential oil profile is complex and composed of myrcene, humulene and caryophyllene, among others, which contribute to its distinctive aroma and flavour.
Developed by Jackson Hop Farm in the Yakima Valley, Washington, it was released to the market in 2015. Its name comes from its place of origin: the hop fields of Idaho.
