Cashmere hop is known for its lush aromatic notes that evoke melon, coconut and lime, accompanied by subtle herbaceous and spicy touches.
These characteristics make it exceptionally attractive for beers seeking a complex and refreshing aromatic profile. This profile derives from its high concentration of monoterpenes such as myrcene and limonene, which are responsible for its citrus and fruity aroma.
Its name, Cashmere, suggests the softness and luxury of its aromas. Developed at Washington State University and released in 2013, Cashmere is a hybrid resulting from a cross between Cascade and Northern Brewer hops. Its alpha acid content typically varies between 7.7% and 9.1%, with total oil content of 1.2 to 1.4 ml/100g, making it suitable both for providing bitterness and for aromatic use in the brewing process.
